Sorry Clayton, I didn't mean to attack you. This is a very emotional issue, & perhaps I didn't convey myself properly. I haven't yet found an alternative, as so far I know of only 1 physio in Sydney (& I am in Melbourne) whom has worked with someo...
Hi Kathryn,
I am a physio in Sydney and have worked in Posture Alignment for a while. I recenly returned from overseas where I spent time with different Schroth trained physio's. I am not sure if this is the correct forum and hope that this is no...
They (the medical profession) don't agree with bracing in Australia, even for kids, let alone adults, but it seems there are alot of adults who have braces that are @ least helping keep the pain @ bay. What sort of a brace have you got? Anything h...
Does anyone know of any Schroth therapists in Australia? I live in Melbourne, Victoria, & have a 60 degree curve. I am waiting for the book to be delivered, however, I'm on the waiting list to have 13 vertebrae fused in approx 6 months, so I'm run...
I'm enjoyig my time off , spending time with my teen boys and hubby when he gets off work. And my two doggy girls. The weather is nice and warm here in upstate NY at the moment lol, and soon it will be apple picking time. We have the best apples in the world in upstate NY.
i work with adults with developmental disabilities. I dont just sit or just stand so thats a plus. My coworkers most are catty bitches really . I don't need any help i'm the best worker they have i work real hard . I'm physically strong other than the dam curve.
Can scoliosis make you feel worn out? I feel that way allot i'm not sure if that has something to do with it. Sometimes i'm amazed I can hold my job. sometimes i'm glad my son is 16 going on 17 because i need to be able to rest. Do you think you would ever have more kids ?
I hear you about the twisty feeling i hate that. My son is ok , his biological father had a very straight back and he takes after him thanks be to Jesus. Life is hard enough than to go through it sideways. and you are right i think straight backed people just couldn't understand us. It's a basic thing a nice back and really it's not for us.
o my what happened with your heart? Yes I work full time at a group home for developmentally disabled adults. I've been working 12 years now with the same agency. I did go to physical therapy for my back and learned two stretches that work for my back curve. I have a 24 degree lower back curve wich is clasified as a moderate curve. I have achey pain at times but not bad enough to ware i cant work. I have a son thats almost 17 and he doesnt have it thank God. I walk allot and that seems to help with any aches also. I had a manager with a back that looked allot like your pictures and she got me into physical therapy. I feel twisty at times and different from other people even though nobody really seems to notice. I have much respect for women with scoliosis as i know how it feels to be different.
wow you do have allot on your plate at this time . Do you work a job ? It must be a real chalenge as a single mom. Does your parents or brother help you out?
Kathryn - I agree whole heartedly with everything you have said. Finding a doctor willing to perscribe a brace is extremely difficult if you are an adult. The only way we were able to di it was to argue that she did not want surgery but needed the brace to limit the pain. They do not believe that the brace will do anything to correct the spine at this point. The reality is that my wifes brace has helped with the pain for sure and when she has it on her posture is better. We have a great system in many ways here in the U.S. I can choose my doctor and I have the final say in what kind of treatment I get so long as what I want is within reason. There is also not nearly as long of a waite as you have. The sad part we are about to have the Government screw all this up by going to a government managed health care plan.
